Have you ever used prayer to accuse or try to control someone? This is what we would call soulish prayers. Soulish prayers are earthly, carnal and demonic; they are prayers that are motivated by envy, self-seeking, anger, criticism and self-righteousness. It is a degenerative syndrome James refer to (James 3:14-16, NIV). Spiritual prayers edifies the one in whom you are praying and interceding for, while soulish prayers are negative. It releases an invisible pressure which do not relieves the burden but rather add to the problem. When Jesus intercedes for us to the Father, His intercession and mediation does not result in our condemnation but in our justification.
